Merriweather Post Pavilion really is that good.
I recommend tracks 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11. And that's really saying something for a group some find 'unlistenable.' Though you'd never find ME saying such a thing.
The whole album reads as drifting and thoughtful with hints of responsibility floating into the peripheral, shaded a lovely pink color by the underpinning yet never obvious declarations of love.
Animal Collective's sound laid on these tracks is especially playful and friendly, as though inviting you to grab a spare trash can, turn it over and join in the beat. That sort of a sound is perfect as winter melts to spring. Kind of like the album art seeminly moves in a melting wave across a backdrop of darkness.
I would like to nominate track 9, 'Lion in a Coma,' for best use of the didgeridoo. (More on that later).
